Cetera Taps Fidelity Personal Trust President to Lead Corporate Strategy

Cetera Financial Group has hired Scott Baker, former president and chairman of the board for Fidelity Personal Trust Company, as head of corporate strategy. Baker replaces George Karris, who is retiring, according to a company spokesperson.

Most recently, Baker was responsible for all aspects of the bank-regulated business unit of Fidelity. Prior to that, he held leadership roles at Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs.

At Cetera, he will be responsible for identifying, developing and monitoring initiatives that provide growth opportunities across the firm. He will work with internal and external business partners to create those growth opportunities.

“Scott’s diverse background as a 30-year wealth management professional is perfectly suited to complement the growth momentum we have established,” said Adam Antoniades, CEO at Cetera Financial Group, in a statement.  “We welcome Scott and look forward to his many impactful contributions that will help propel Cetera through its next phase of growth.”

This follows a series of executive appointments Cetera has made in recent months. In May, Cetera brought on Brian Lampron, former vice president of RIA Services at Commonwealth Financial Network, as managing director of RIA Solutions.

Cetera also added Jon Myczka, a former senior director of digital products at Ally Financial, as managing director of RIA and advisory digital experiences.

Late last year, Logan Galli joined Cetera as head of advisory business consulting. He came from LPL Financial, where he was senior vice president and head of distribution.

Amy Rehn, former senior vice president of the RIA custody platform at Osaic, has been appointed managing director of investment solutions at Cetera.

In April, Cetera announced the appointment of Michael Molnar as head of corporate development from Avantax, the $84 billion, tax-focused wealth management firm it bought last year

More recently, Daniel Burkott, former chief compliance officer for Cadaret Grant, joined the firm as CCO of Cetera’s tax channel, which includes Cetera Financial Specialists and Avantax.

Cetera has more than 12,000 advisors across $213 billion in assets under management and $505 billion in assets under administration.
