Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management has combined its New York and Mid-Atlantic regions into the new Northeast region, now the firm’s largest globally, with more than 200 financial advisors. The firm has appointed Nicole Pullen Ross, region head for New York Private Wealth Management, to lead the Northeast region.
In this expanded role, Ross, a 25-year Goldman veteran, will oversee Goldman Sachs PWM’s New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., offices. The Northeast region covers states from Connecticut to Virginia and west to Ohio. She’ll also continue to lead the Sports & Entertainment Solutions business, which she launched in 2018.
The New England region, which includes the Boston office, will continue to be led by Maggie Keohan.
The firm has also created two associate region head positions, reporting to Ross. Jesse Goldstein, a former chief operating officer for the Americas wealth management business, and Anne Shapiro, an advisor in Washington, D.C., will fill those roles.
Ross said the region had experienced a lot of growth, and the firm wanted to ensure it was well-positioned to serve clients best. The new infrastructure allows clients and advisors to connect better across the region.
“I saw our New York client base initially from the seat as an advisor,” she said. “What I saw when I stepped out of New York—which, of course, everyone thinks of as the center of the universe—is that we had really extraordinary clients and people who were advising clients in a really top-tier differentiated way across different offices.”
The change allows her team to represent and share best practices across the three offices.
“The ability to have our advisors in those three offices talking more regularly about their businesses and their clients allows the purview of those advisors to broaden,” she said.
The expanded team also allows for some synergies and operational efficiencies.
Goldman Sachs PWM has nine other regions in the U.S., all of which have specific regional heads and business unit management teams that help with the day-to-day operations.
